If I listened to one of my books, with an earbud, of course, during a document production? I'm thinking yes, however no one will know what I'm listening to. 4951

It's quiet. A document production/review is just sitting in a large conference room digging in boxes and reading through documents. Very dry and very boring. 4951

I do it, especially when there is no conversation or required conversation during the task.  However I do work with individuals who do it when there is required conversation. 4951

I would think absolutely no problem, I do this all day while I work, as do half the people in my office, in fact I use Bose over the ear headphones.  It's very acceptable in the work place these days, although not sure if that is the case for your particular industry.  When I was an auditor we were often in conference rooms and everyone would have earbuds in when they worked.I have certain music that helps me concentrate and audio books for the more mundane tasks.I say go for it.   4951

They don't know that, unless you give them reason to. 4951

@donnatella:

Only if it's against office policy and/or your conscious. Now, if someone else did it and you would think it was wrong or tacky, then you probably shouldn't do it. But that's probably not the case. I don't envy you. Doc review can be torture. Hence why so many firms outsource. 4951

@donnatellaWhere do you get your audio books?  I'm thinking about getting one for a road trip.  I tried the free ones, but they were too hard to navigate while driving.  It would stop after each chapter and they had to frequently read the statement about the book being in the free domain.  4951

@MarT: I use Overdrive and use my library card.  Of course I haven't really checked if they have the type of books @donnatella is listening to...lol.
I listen every day at work and I work in an office setting.  Most of us do.  With others on the phone it's easier for me to concentrate when I'm listening to something I want to hear instead of other people's conversations. 4951
