Where do you all suggest we stay (hotel on the riverwalk) for a romantic San Antonio getaway? Don't want to spend more than 200-250 a night. 4951

@topcat:

There is a really nice B&B in the King William historic district (I think that's what it's called). I don't remember the exact name or street but it's about three blocks from the riverwalk. We've stayed there a few times and liked it. 4951

Check the rates at the Marriott Riverwalk. You can sometimes catch discounted rates under $200. That's where we like to stay. 4951

It has been a while since we stayed there but the most romantic hotel IMO is LaMansion. Sometimes you can catch a good deal on it.  We stayed on the river side with a balcony which made for a lovely weekend.  If you have a Platinum Amex you can good a good deal on their luxury hotels which always include an upgraded room and a special offer. For example we stayed at the Mokara Hotel and Spa. Booking it through the AmEx deal we were upgraded to a balcony room overlooking the river, breakfast for 2 every morning and an additional $100 room credit that could be used on anything in the hotel including the bar on the Riverwalk. We booked it for $199 a night but with the room credit, upgrade and included breakfast we felt it was a great deal and a very romantic, luxury weekend.  It was our anniversary so they also included a bottle of wine and chocolate dipped strawberries. 4951

Years ago, we stayed at the Holiday Inn on St Mary's Street.  The restaurant overlooked the river.  It was also only a short walk to other restaurants along the River Walk. 4951

Motel 6. Once you close your eyes, you're at a 5-star hotel anywhere.

@jax: Good idea! I can pretend the bedbugs biting on me are glorious flakes of glitter gently falling onto my skin from the heavens.

I usually stay at the Menger Hotel for 80.00 a night but I have my discounts. Great decorations and right across the street from the Alamo but be warned it is haunted along with most of the hotels in the Riverwalk and San Antonio. 4951

That's the only place we stay if we're not staying at friend's houses. 4951

@CBP210: Haunted? Yikes! I'm going to stay away from any haunted hotels. We want to do our own bumping in the night, thank you very much!
