Hello I was wondering what cable service people in Kingwood use (and specifically Elm Grove).  We use Suddenlink, but their prices keep going up.  I was trying to decide between Dish or Direct TV, but am a bit worried about the trees in Kingwood.  Does anyone have Dish or Direct TV in Elm Grove and does it work good. Thanks 4951

I am also in Elm Grove...I want to say Century Link might also do Internet, but I have heard they are not much better than Suddenlink. I hate Suddenlink. Unfortunately there are not a lot of choices :-( 4951

Dish and Direct TV go up as well all the time, only positive with Suddenlink is they don't crap out when a little rain comes. 4951

@aussiedudette:  Welcome to the USA, Texas, Kingwood, and KDC! Trees don't matter for any dish service AS LONG AS THE DISH HAS A CLEAR LINE OF SIGHT TO THEIR STATIONARY SATELLITE.  However, as mentioned, satellites tend to drop out when it rains.  Unfortunately, it's either Suddenlink or satellites for TV in most of Kingwood.

If a tree is in the way, that's not a clear line of sight now is it. 4951

I've used Dish at 2 different houses during my years here cuz I love the **** out of it. The signal is very reliable and I have never had to call customer service with any complaints.

I've only lost a signal during very heavy storms, but it's usually very brief - maybe no more than 30 minutes. But with a DVR that has ample storage capacity, I have a bank of programming ready to watch whenever it goes out.

It's hard to find a house in my neighborhood without a satellite on the roof, though there isn't a clear preference between Dish and DirectTV. 4951

@elguapo:  Correct, and if a tree is in the line of sight, it's not a CLEAR line of sight
