I know fireworks at home are fun but does anyone ever think beyond their selves and think how it effects your neighbors? Please consider the time of night and the longevity of your firework session if doing them in a neighborhood because of 1) Babies  2) PTSD former military  3) Elderly with dementia 4) Dogs  4) People that are terminally ill or major illnesses, It is not just a noise issue it can sometimes be alot more. Try to think outside of your own world next time you set off fireworks  or just go to a community event instead.  4951

Parents need to respect their neighbors, and have the ba!!$ to tell their kids they can't shoot off fireworks in the middle of the night, in Houston or Harris county.  It might be legal in Montgomery county, and if so there isn't anything that can be done, unless people want to be good neighbors. We shoot off some fireworks annually, on the fourth of July, at our country place in the woods 2 hours north of Houston, where our nearest neighbor lives two miles down the road, and we still stop by midnight (out of respect for our neighbors).  It's mind-boggling to me that it happens as much in Kingwood as it does, as I grew up in Houston and it never happened.  We had plenty of automatic weapons fire, but no fireworks, except at AstroWorld. 4951

People act like this is a new phenomena.....  It's a holiday.  I loved fireworks as a kid, and I still do.  The stands are only open for a couple weeks....   I don't have an issue with it at all.  If it bothers you call the cops and report them.....  But it seems we are just becoming so serious... Good lord we all had kids and dealt with outside noises....   4951

@GoldenGirl: So if your neighbors were blasting off mortars in their back yard, until 2:30 a.m., it wouldn't bother you?  I find that hard to believe, unless maybe you just got some of those excellent new pella double-pane windows that block out all outside noise.  I'm all for people having fun, but there are reasons it is against the law in the city of Houston.

@buffaloglenn: That would be a bit excessive...  If it was in the city limits I would report it...  I do own some awesome ear plugs though..   Hell my husbands snoring can be worse...   lol

bottom line, if you are in Houston, which we are, fireworks are illegal. In addition, they are incredibly disrespectful to your neighborhood and neighbors. go to a professional show if you want to enjoy them. 4951

Are most working folks off on Tuesday the 5th?If not, even midnight might be a bit excessive.  Lots of my neighbors are up at 5 a.m or earlier.@GoldenGirl:  would you share brand/name of earplugs?  I can't find any that even stay in my ears, let alone work. 4951

Last year was ridiculous...it went on and on until about 3:00am in my neighborhood. It is the City of Houston, illegal and i have to work on the 5th. That means getting up at 4:30am. It is probably going to be a short night since my dog is petrified of the noise. Planning ahead for it to be an ugly night.

I do wish folks would stop at a reasonable hour - I usually have to work the next day. The dog hates them, and get really squirrelly, and it takes time to get her to calm down. I love fireworks, and really don't mind them being set off on the weekend, but I feel bad for the dog.  4951

If you just start it up & go, not a problem, you sit there and rev it half adozen times, you are likely to get an unpleasant surprise. 4951

Our entire cul de sac is lighting off firework Monday night and I cannot wait! We had fun last year and the year before so hope everyone in kings mill is prepared...we usually start around dark with the loud stuff til we run out which is usually about an hour or so. Then get the sprinklers and smoke bombs out for the kiddos. 4951
