...is going into surgery at 7:30 this morning for hip replacement. After 7 bypasses and a plethora of medical issues, this is weighing heavily on me, my mom and the rest of the family. I just don't like the idea of my 80 year old dad going under the knife.

So please pray for him if it's not to much to ask. For those that don't pray, enjoy your Monday.

If you're any indication on how your dad is, I'm sure he is a tough cookie and will come out just fine. That being said, I don't blame you for being a bit apprehensive, and will be sending lots of prayers and positives thoughts your way. Please keep us updated. 4951

As I am sure the nurses on the board will agree, remind him to "stay on top" of his pain rx rather than "chase the pain" for the first few days/week. I remember my mom's doc fussing at her for trying to be a martyr and not taking the meds. The lack of them slowed down her ability to do pt.

Also, if he is walking with crutches or a walker, an apron with pockets will help him carry what he needs around the house allowing him to be more self sufficient. If an apron is just too uncool, a fanny pack attached high enough that it won't touch his incisions would help. 4951
