I've been dealing with a few at work. Most seem to think they are God's gift to the world and think they should be a Director or exec (now!).   WTH!The level of entitlement is astounding. That said, some are cool. 4951

@Odin: That is the end result of PC run amuck and the "everyone wins, everyone gets a trophy" mindset. Those parents will still argue with you with a passion, but the proof is in the kids. When you mess with good healthy competition, stop teaching them to win AND lose with dignity and grace, and be good sports, you get this.

Life's lessons that things aren't always fair, at every age level, are what build character and strong confident individuals that can function in a team environment and succeed in the work place. 4951

@FoFa: I will check those out... he has a great voice.  His sound reminds me a little of John Popper from Blues Traveler.

My husbands brother is a Millennial and man is he something else. My hubby (and his 2 sisters) are Gen Xers then baby brother came along 13 years later and was raised completely differently. Hubby spent his summers hoeing cotton from sun-up to sun-down, little brother spent his summers playing Sega. Hubby helped raise farm animal then had to participate when the men in the family gathered to slaughter and divide the meat. Little brother gave his mom a grocery list when he wanted food. Hubby moved out at 18, little brother moved out at 30 but still comes home to his mom's homecooked meals for lunch everyday. The best part - he wants to be a politician! He moves back home occasionally because he quits his job to focus on his campaign. Little brother can't understand why we are all so selfish with our money. Why don't we want to give to the poor and needy? We tell him maybe if he had a job that actually required him to pay a significant amount of taxes he would understand. He still thinks we are jerks.  4951

My son (30yo) and I have some good discussions.  He is surprisingly well-informed but is very liberal.  He likes when I see his side but doesn't always listen to my side, or admit that I'm right.Youth, optimism, growing up in a PC world, and not paying taxes for years and years can make you more liberal!  LOL! 4951

@Maisey1: Yup, a lot young college kids are Dems and want to rescue the world. They want the evil rich to give give give. Big business, big oil, Wall Street are the evil money grubbing enemy.....UNTIL they get a job, realize how people earn money. Suddenly, those bleeding heart liberal Dems become conservative Reps with a sudden value on the money THEY EARN. Then, all of a sudden, they aren't quite so generous with the purse strings.

It's all fun and games when you are spending someone else's money.

I have a 16-year old with his first car, working his first job. Talk about a quick turnaround!!! He'll spend our money like a drunken sailor, but tell him what he wants is in his dime, and suddenly, it's not that important to have or get. 4951

@donnatella: Somewhere along the way parents got the idea that making their 16 year old go out and get a small job was a bad thing. That they should enjoy every second of  their childhood, get pampered with their every want and whim and not have have to lift a finger. My kids pout because they don't have that kind of lifestyle, but that's ok with me! Mine got a job at 15 and found out quickly how nice it is to have her own money to buy stuff she wants. She has learned to spend it on what is important to her and not throw it away on stupid stuff. It has really taught her how to be more responsible with her money and take her job seriously because she doesn't want to lose it.
