Guess I need to have someone check ours. It is working but in this heat can't get the house too cool and it's driving family nuts.

@Stealth83:

Time to get MADD Air on the line! We have ours set at 74 and we're plenty cool. A/Cs been working overtime lately, but we're staying cool! 4951

We are having the same problem. Our thermostat was set to 71 yesterday but it was 78 in the house in the afternoon. Now, it is matching the temp on the thermostat.

We are scheduled for service on Monday. Hopefully a little extra coolant will allow us to survive the heat. If it is doing this in June, what will August be like? 4951

Ours is doing good its 5 months old, high air flow we have it set at 75.also notice each month our electric bill is much lower compare to last 3  years. Check the Evaporator to see if its dirty in which it will allow less air to pass thru and that will make your AC work hard. Mine was like that for years and ran all day long, I use a commercial spray cleaner while it was working and it clean up in a day or two and the end result was more cool air and AC would not run all day long... got a 5 extra years out of the unit, she was still working good but she was coming on 18 years.... Also note for the people who have plans to change AC with a new one wait until winter the prices are cheap.... my 4 ton 16 seer was 4375.00 installed I save about 1500.to 1800 when compared to other contractors. 4951

A reasonable expectation of the a/c system is a 20℉ split between outside ambient air temp and what's being recycled at the a/c return register. Most a/c manufactures actually call for a 15° split which for us is unacceptable. It's been quite hot/humid the past few days. 4951

MADD air is on vacay till the 28th. Ours did a miraculous recovery but hubs said it still needs freon. During the day we set the downstairs at 80 and the upstairs at 78. We have all the fans going and all the shades pulled. The upstairs unit runs most of the afternoon and the downstairs unit never kicks on- the downstairs never gets past 78.At night we turn the upstairs unit to 75 and we crank the downstairs unit to 70- I HAVE to have it cold to sleep. Thankfully the summer electric bills are offset by the winter bills as we rarely use the heat/ fans in the winter 4951

I keep both units set at 75. It's very comfortable in here. I run no ceiling fans and kep about half of the blinds open. June electric bill is projected to be $54. 4951

I keep mine about 70, sometimes lower. Yeah, my electric bills aren't so great in the summer.But I should be living in colder climates.  Not designed for the South. 4951

We keep it at 74, but 73 is the lowest I set it (for housework etc.) and it freezes everyone else out.

On days like today, I will keep the ceiling fans going in al the rooms and try to keep it at 74. 4951
