The Senate overwhelmingly passed a $602 billion defense bill Tuesday
that included an amendment that would require women to register for the
draft --
also known as the selective service -- for the first time in history.

The National Defense Authorization Act passed 85-13, although some
Republican senators protested against the inclusion of the provision
pertaining to
women and the draft. 4951

@CBP210: They kinda have to, small country surrounded by enemies. They invented the Israel bandage for a reason.

They don't want guns with that demographic but they want protection. They want equal rights but are majority voting for someone who took money from countries that stone gays to death and voted for one that is making deals with them. Can't have it both ways. 4951

I also think we have so many who want to be in the military there is no reason for the draft or for anyone to have to register for the draft.   4951

@TEXASGIRLMAMMA: We probably would have had a draft for Iraq and Afghanistan but they threw boat loads of cash at Soldiers with bonuses, sham promotions that use to require advanced schooling...half the combat power for those wars was National Guard. Not sure if that would work again.

I have a friend who was an Army sergeant who served two tours in Iraq.  He said that 90% of the female soldiers there were fraternizing, in a biblical sense, with their male counterparts.  He had to send two home for becoming pregnant, while overseas (not with their husbands).  My point is, I believe, as he does, women serving in combat is too much of a distraction from the task at hand.  Other vets might feel differently, as I'm just sharing one friend's opinion.  4951

It's also known as the "see how evil Republicans are" law.  The purpose of the bill was for a weapon to use against Republicans in elections.  The crack "conservatives" who control Congress passed it. 4951
