I'm reserving judgement until a clearer picture of what happened inside the club emerges, and I don't know how I would react in that situation and I don't think any of us do.  We know how we would like ourselves to act, but without being in the situation, we simply don't know.I have wondered the same thing as you though.  I wonder how you keep that many victims subdued while you reload.   4951

I'd like to think I'd fight back. With all the people in the club you'd think someone, or a group would have gathered, in attempt to take him down. But this terrorist did seem to know what he was doing, seemed systematic and prepared. It's so hard to say, since none of us were there. 4951

It seems that most mass shootings to this date have victimized the quintessential "soft target". I'm guessing these cowards aren't dumb enough to attack someplace where there are likely to meet strong resistance. Think about it ... a movie theater, elementary school and workplace conference room filled with co-workers .This guy in Orlando visited this night club so he knew what to expect from the people there. I would be shocked to hear of an attack on a biker bar or policeman gathering of some kind.  4951

Did Orlando teach us anything

no same group of people wanting to punish innocent people. I say we cut all penises off to prevent rape. 4951

@JerryJustice: Because we want to learn - and by learning, decrease the chances of either 1) it happening again in the future or 2) how to avoid putting ourselves in situations where we might be more likely to be a target.  And some people just like to learn, and can handle studying the situation without becoming negative.

@JerryJustice:
Good point, let's go back to talking about gorillas.It's a major event, you can expect it to be a topic of conversation for some time.That being said, I have not viewed any social media for the last day and a half because I could not take the raw stupidity, so I can see where you are coming from on that aspect. 4951

Remember the guy that stood outside the fence at the White House and fired randomly at the WH?  I distinctly remember the video of one guy in a cowboy hat (and maybe others) tackling the shooter while he reloaded.Depending on the person, the time needed to load a fresh magazine can vary.  An experienced shooter may only need 1-3 seconds.  The guy mentioned above was taking longer, so he was successfully tackled and stopped. 4951

Why do people have to read abut this all the time? Read other threads and express your thoughts on those threads...then move onto another thread. Skip the threads you don't wish to read. HOLY ****....there's a thought. Free Will...what a great thing to have.

@buffaloglenn: I agree, this isn't about the post being negative but just that the situation itself is negative. Since social media has become such a huge thing it is literally everywhere. Id just rather talk about what everyone had for dinner last night or what your plans are for this upcoming weekend. I understand people travel etc but there is a reason we don't have these types of shootings in Texas because no matter how stupid the person is committing the act they know majority of Texans hold LTC and they wouldn't get very far with their actions. Not to say we are totally safe in Texas but its just a fact of the matter.

@jax: Not trying to be negative on and already negative matter, but there is already a thread about this with 200+ comments. I just feel like this is a double post at this point  because many of the same views with be posted here. I agree things like this need to be talked about but damn if it hasn't been talked about enough already. I am just as entitled to my opinion as you are.

@JerryJustice:

Do you know how many "So, what's for dinner?" threads we've had? Hundreds, all discussing the same topic...food. Why not rant on about those threads?

Message boards are all about, discussing, you know that. But you also have the ability and free will to skip any message you don't want to read.

Honest questions: Why do you care that people keep replying to a thread they care about so much? Why are you reading the thread if it is bothersome to you?
