>> I truly hope we never see another August like we did a few years back when it was over 100F EVERY DAY OF THAT MONTH.August is my least favorite month of the year, except we got married in August.
@Retired_Engineer: I actually don't mind when the temps are over 100F because it usually means there is a lot less humidity in the air. I can be outside when it's dry and very hot, but if it's even in the 80's and very humid then forget it! I remember the August you are referring to. I had a house I was working on and spent many of those days working on the yard, fence and painting the outside. I waited till evening or made sure I spent my time on the shaded side of the house if possible. It was great. Maybe I should consider moving to the desert...
@Maisey1: Yeah, the combination of heat and humidity is a killer. When Debbie and I went to Las Vegas many years ago, it got up to 106F, but it didn't feel hot. The humidity was so low that your sweat immediately evaporated, cooling you off a bit. Fortunately, everywhere we went, doormen and others would tell us to drink water and stay hydrated. People not used to those conditions can become dehydrated pretty quickly.Â
