When you make them at home, do you add anything to them?

Watching a cooking segment, and she has added Greek yogurt and breadcrumbs to ground chicken. Meatloaf, yes, but for burgers, I've never added anything except seasonings/marinade. 4951

I do when I make burgers out of turkey meat since they tend to be a little dry and fall apart on the grill. I'll add an egg and some breadcrumbs along with the seasonings. It's almost like a big flat meatball on a bun. 4951

That makes sense. Not a fan of ground chicken or turkey so I'd rather have a 93/7 smaller beef patty, but that's just me. Maybe just a texture thing. Now I love grilled chicken breast. Most of the time, I'd rather have that instead of a burger. 4951

Just a little seasoning, and sometimes a little Worshchershire sauce. 4951

@ForeCPA90: Sometimes I do teriyaki. Just depends on my mood and what goodies The Hubs is using for the pit...pecan, hickory, etc. 4951

@donnatella: I love burgers made out of ground beef, I just have an issue preparing them myself. For some reason the smell of raw ground beef makes me sick. Now if the hubby is making burgers then there is no turkey involved, although he does like to mix it with ground deer meat sometimes.

@Maisey1: Are you kidding? If GrillPimp is cooking, I'd eat anything he makes! Same for @TheChad. You never question the pit masters! You just eat it and be grateful they let you near their finished product. 4951

I sometimes make the patties thin, put cheese on one, place another pattie on top, then seal the edge.You just have to be careful to NOT throw the meat - bun ration off.Also sometimes I'll finely chop onions and or mushrooms and add them to the ground beef before making patties.Other than that, maybe a little salt and black pepper. 4951

I'll usually go about 80/20 venison to beef..A little worch sauce, lemon pepper and Lawry's salt..  If i'm out of Worch sauce, I'll cut everything except lawry's and put stubbs bbq sauce in it. 4951

@FoFa: That's a Juicy Lucy!  Delicious.
I agree, meat to bun ratio is an often overlooked fundamental of burger making.  4951

Usually I mix in a bit of lipton onion soup mix the one that come in a packet and some Worcester sauce . But lately I have been using some chupacabra seasoning and a hot fire with pecan wood and they are pretty tasty. We are having the dd's over on Sunday for burgers and beers. 4951

@donnatella: They are.  With the lean venison there has to be something in there to keep them from getting dry bc the ground meat I order is 94/6.
