I need to get some moving company quotes for my DHs job so they know how much to give for him for moving expenses. Any suggestions for major moving companies that travel across state lines?
TIA

Google can be your friend here.Alpha Van Lines -  $999.00www.alphavanlines.com123Movers - $499.00 long distance moveswww.123movers.comwww.colemanallied.comwww.movers.comAll State van Line - $99.00www.allstatevanlinesrelo.com/MoversI personally like ABF.  If you are packing yourself they drop off a trailer in your drive way.  You fill it up and they will come pick it up and move...I would think your husbands company would have preferred companies.  I know mine does. 4951

His company doesn't provide the movers?  If they are paying anyway, they could get a much better rate all around by signing a contract with a big mover.  My dh's company has moved us every time, and not one move was under 10K.  That included them moving and storing our stuff until we found/built a house, and moving our cars for us too.They packed and unpacked everything for us.  I loved those guysEmoticon  I was pregnant with 2 moves, and really couldn't have done it without their help.

@Fallon:
That would be nice but he is only the 3rd person in the company to ever move for the job. His company just isn't set up for that so they would rather just write him a fat check. 4951

before you get too excited about a company, check on complaints with both the BBB and the government like the ICC etc...a standard practice for some companies is to quote you a price, pack it all up and move it...then demand extra fees for 'overages and extra work' etc before they will release your goods all the while charging you storage fees at x dollars a day. it is an extortion which many get away with because people want their stuff 4951

@foxymama:  Not personally because I only moved 6 blocks last time.  I do know people who have and I have worked with them through my job.  They are very good to work with.  I like the trailer drop because it gives a person control.  You can see reviews on line and they are pretty positive from what I know about them.

@foxymama: It's been years, but I was happy with Mayflower-the military paid for them to move my ex and I.My dad's old company used them when I was a kid too, don't really remember any complaints.

Bekins quote was $6300. To load, transport, unload, and insurance coverage.  We can finish packing, we packed a good chunk already.  4951

I too need quotes and would prefer to use city to city and they are insisting on address then saying someone will call. United wouldn't even give my basic info to the rep. Wanted my full address etc.
I'm not telling anything until I hire.
I want an estimate for a 2 bed home. From city center to city center estimate. They won't. 4951
