Went back to Millennium today, met my new doc (Love Dr. Khoury!), and got my diagnosis. Secondary Polycythemia. Jak2 wasn't detected. The 4 pints of blood I gave to the vampires last month helped. Here's the comparison:5/3 test:RBC: 6.03Hemoglobin: 19.1Hemacrit: 56.55/31 test: (After the 4 pints)RBC: 4.9Hemoglobin: 15.8Hemacrit: 46.7Doc still doesn't know what's causing the issue. I don't need to see the vampires this month. Yay! I go back on 6/24 for lab work and to get an ECG done. Next appointment is on 6/30 so he can compare the numbers from the 5/31 test.  Cheers! Sweetheart, I have no idea what that stuff means. Legal? I'm your man. Medical? Not so much. Guess I better get to Googling.

Regardless...love you bunches! 4951

@donnatella: Synopsis: My blood is like thick motor oil running through the body. Less blood helps the blood flow better in my instance.

@donnatella I believe no sign of  JAK2 means it is not genetic that is why it's referred to as secondary. @Brat I hope things go well for you! 4951

My Mom loves Dr. Khoury, too! He is very nice and gives you as much time as you need to get all your questions answered. I feel you are in very good hands with him. And, their office staff is good, too. So often one finds a great Dr. with a lousy staff. They have been nothing but helpful there. 4951

Poly- = many, -cyt- = cell(s), -hemia = blood.  Generically, too many cells in the blood.  Specifically, and a quick glance at the hematocrit is a dead giveaway, too many red blood cells in the blood causing a high viscosity (fluid thickness and resistance to flow).  You don't need less blood, you need an increase in plasma (the fluid portion of blood) volume or a decrease in the "thickening agent", in this case RBCs.  4951

@BratSuper stoked to hear that you found a physician that you feel comfortable and confident with.....   ...Now, how are you feelin', and is there anything that I (we) can help you out with....Is there anything that you need to stay away from, besides stress, or a specific Diet that can be helpful?  Please stay Positive, Hopeful, Faithful, and know that you're in my thoughts and prayers, and dude, if you need anything, please just give me a holler...Love you, B...
