always cause me to nearly jump out of my skin. They are just so random and harshly toned. 4951

I wish you could choose what type of weather alert you want.to know about. Like the flood warning doesn't pertain to me so I don't need it screeching. 4951

I some how disabled them.  Don't ask me how because I don't know.  My husband still gets them though.  Luckily he can make them go on vibrate at night, however it does vibrate his phone for a good minute so it is just as bad. 4951

My truck does the same thing. I'll be driving down the road day dreaming and suddenly the weather alert will screech in my ear. Scares the beejeebers out of me.
Then the map will come on and show my little car right in the center of a red cell of thunderstorms. I look out the window and see the sun shining, then say WTF.
I tease my wife when the auto wipers come on. I tell her "it's officially raining out there now, because the truck knows it too." 4951

I'm kind of a weather nerd so I have a half dozen weather apps, some show different things. I have an Android and have all of them set to block alerts because I really don't need to be alerted when I am out of town and when I am here I am keeping an eye on the weather. But I think one must have had an update that resets it to do an alert. I've never had one like this, it beeps really loud and when I pick up the phone it gives the message and I have to press a "Confirm" button to get to the next screen. Usually when I click on the warning with the other app it opens the app but this one just disappears once I confirm I saw it. I find it really annoying. 4951
