Flooded, cars stopped. Water is rising there. Cars parked in the park and ride need to be moved immediately. Never seen it like this. 4951

And I bet the feeder is shut down just south of Target where that hotel and NTB tire are, that side street flooded last month as well. That's got to hurt businesses on a holiday weekend. NTB always has Memorial Day tire sales.Be safe! 4951

My vanpool van is at the P&R, south end, near the entrance for the SB HOV lane.  Might be getting on a wet van on Tuesday. 4951

@Chrisinkingwood:

The feeder was closed this morning - you couldn't exit at 1960.

I'm reading on FB that Costco is closing now because of high water. 4951

I wonder if the new Costco has something to do with the flooding there, it has never done that before. It has been wooded in that area for over 30 years before that Costco was built.... Wonder if the engineers factored that in before building!? 4951

@bubbleyes72: The fact that they bulldozed that whole area without any confirmed buildings going up was a real shame. Very likely now that the area has flooded twice it will stay empty for years(nobody wants to build on a lot that is going to flood.)

Costco is to blame for this nonsense.
Yet, folks will continue to shop there. 4951

Of course it did. Rising river water is just that. Itll flood asphalt, concrete, forest, jungle. It doesnt matter. Poor runoff due to new construction is a whole other issue. 4951

C'mon really?   Costco's small foot print is totally inconsequential in this mess.  How much water do you think gets absorbed in this clay crap they call soil around here.    4951

Costco's effect will be runoff and redirecting that runoff. River flooding is dictated by elevation only. Costco's footprint might be underwater today, as its elevation was increased prior to construction. Once saturated, very little is absorbed into the clay crap. 4951

It's not just soil.  Trees take in enormous amount of water on a daily basis.  Is it only the Costco buildout?  Of course not; but the sum total of all the development that has taken place recently most certainly contributes.  Look at the absolute mess WLHP is between Atascocita and BW8, and they're not even close to being done with what they're doing out there.  Really, most of that area should have just been left as swamp and forest preserve, but there's no tax dollars to be made from that. 4951
