What's the best? I did a Bayer brand last month and still have a problem. I don't expect to eradicate them, but they're worse than I've ever seen them. Treating the dog regularly with drops. He's not infested , but still has a few on him every day. I've had my dog for 4 years and never had such a bad problem. Help! 4951

I went to the do it yourself place over by Italiano's and I can't remember the name of it - I think it might be Bug be gone - but you spread it out then water it and it seems to work pretty good.  I have the Scott spreader if you need to borrow it.  I originally only had the hand held one and that killed me.  I found a big one at a thrift shop for $8.00 that seems to work great. Let me know if you need it. 4951

@14valentine: What drops are you using? I put the Frontline on both dogs, and that apparently kills the fleas that bite them, but the poor dogs have to suffer through the bites. I need something that will repeal the fleas so my dogs don't have the crawling & itching. I bathe them in Oatmeal shampoo to make their skin feel better, but I need something better to help.

Get out the bucks and buy Trifexis heart worm/flea treatment for your dog and you will never have a flea again. Its a monthly pill. Buy it online, not at your vets, unless he/she price matches or you will be further raped. 4951

All the above is great but is still doesn't help answer OP's original question about what to put in the yard.We use Sevindust, the only problem is, with all the rain, they keep coming back.  I like Vets Best Flea & Tick yard spray.  4951

@choclab:  We use Trifexis and it really works.  None of our dogs ever have fleas on them.  We never treat the yard anymore.

@TEXASGIRLMAMMA: I use trifexis too for my dog. I skipped a dose and sure enough after 2 months he had a couple fleas on him. As soon as I gave him his next treatment he was flea free again. I actually use it on my cat too since he's an indoor/outdoor cat and roams the woods often. It works on him too.

Also while spraying, maybe hit up the fence line really good between you and the neighbors, in case they aren't treating their yards or animals.

@Fallon: This is our issue, we have deer, foxes, jack rabbits and other wildlife in our backyard on a regular basis(we have a fence but it gets jumped).  We also have woods surrounding us on 3 sides.

www.amazon.com/Bifen -Bifenthrin-Control- Insecticide-Concentr ate/dp/B003IMIPEmoticonsc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00My husband and I used this as we had a flea and brown recluse issue. I will say this stuff is very potent and not to be used without consideration. You cannot allow pets or kids near the treated area for 24 hours. It is designed for professionals, but if you use caution - this stuff worked for us.  4951

If you feel the need treat your yard. Then use the pill. The fleas life cycle cannot be maintained if your pet takes the pill. Fleas do no not hang around if they happen to fall off a wild animal and your pets take this pill. 4951

I use Bayer Advanced on the yard and the dog is on Nexgard (she had trouble tolerating Trifexis) and we have no fleas. 4951

Bifen I/T.  It's like $20 on Amazon and kills anything with more than four legs.  I use it inside and outside.   4951

Seems like I read about some natural treatment- something  you get at a feed store. Anyone know about that and how effective it is?My pup used to get Comfortis. He can't take that anymore since he had seizures last winter. Maybe that's why we never had a problem before now. Currently I've been giving him Frontline. I've been tempted to treat him more than once a month, but fear that that + the yard treatment might poison him. He's only 10 pounds. Maybe we need to try the Comfortis again. This flea battle is for the birds- LITERALLY! 4951
