In an effort to not add unnecessary congestion to our roadways Council Member Martin has requested to postpone the joint repair project due to Kingwood High School and Kingwood Park High School graduations. The Kingwood Drive joint repair project has been moved back one week. On Saturday, June 4 and Saturday, June 11 the City of Houston's Public Works and Engineering Department (PWE) is scheduled to conduct concrete joint repairs along the 800 and 900 blocks of Kingwood Drive. PWE will begin working at the 900 block, east bound in the right lane. Crews will work between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays until the project's expected completion on Saturday, June 11, weather permitting. During the project drivers should expect intermittent lane closures and delays in the area. To ensure driver and worker safety, traffic control measures will be in place on site including traffic barrels, traffic cones, directional signage and flagmen. One lane will remain open at all times. The District E office has also contacted the Houston Police Department's Kingwood substation to ask that officers monitor the location and provide assistance with traffic control as needed. Concrete joint repairs are an option used on concrete streets and involves filling any gaps or separations between panels that may have subsided or have some degree of faulting. Joint repairs are used to preserve and prolong the life of the road based, providing a smoother riding surface. For more information on the upcoming Kingwood Drive joint repair project, please contact the District E office at (832) 393-3008 or via email at districte@houstontx.gov.  4951

Great news. Every time I see those big gaps between the lanes I'm reminded of the announcements in the London Tube, "Please mind the gap!" A motorcycle could easily wreck if the tire got stuck in some of the bigger ones. 4951
