Yep... Squirrel floats, stew, etc. yes, everything taste like chicken. Tongue in cheek, and there is someon who hunts them who lives down dogwood lame, I think it okay as they are like rabbits and need a little thinning out. Just saying! I'm with you..... 4951

@JCarranza: OMG, I hope they don't kill them all. I won't have any playmates.
When I get on my wife's nerves (min. 2 or 3 times a week), she tells me "Go outside and play with the squirrels".
What will happen to me?

My dad used to kill and eat them when he was a kid.  I never unstood why he would bother because they are so scrawny until I saw the ones up north where he grew up.  Those suckers are huge compaired to the little grey ones we have around here. 4951

@cgm10sne1: I am down with this as well but squirrel tastes nothing like chicken.  We actually killed so many squirrels growing up I got to the point that I don't like it at all even though I make a killer stew.  However, a few years ago a driver here in Fosters Mill crippled one with a car and my inner Louisiana redneck came out bad.  I picked it up, took it out of it's misery, cleaned it, seasoned it up good, grilled it, and it was actually pretty tasty for a road kill.

@Safety44: also when my counts are to low I feed all the squirrels and birds. What will I do? I can't go to the stores so I have fur friends. Look if it taste like chicken...eat chicken. Lol

Kingwood is full of wildlife to enjoy.  I enjoy the squirrels around our home and feed them.  If you have a problem with wildlife maybe living downtown Houston would be better for you. 4951

@Safety44:

Someone will shoot you in the *** with a BB gun for digging in their flower beds.

I've made several attempts to grow chinquapin oaks and a burr hybrid in pots to transplant to our property and they last a few days before a squirrel finds them.

For some reason I was never a fan of Squirrel. Always surprised me as I always liked most other animals we hunted.But maybe it was what they ate up north where I hunted them as a teenager.Havn't had any since then. 4951

@Ann2800: lol...Tastes like squirrel. I actually passed up the bow season opener to go plant and relive my childhood chasing tree rats.

I do not kill the squirrels , but I have learnt some people kills them and eats them. I was just concerned there are too many, and eat the nice birds feed we place everyday.Yes they are "cute", but can also be very destructive. 4951

If every homeowner in Kingwood shot two squirrels a year in their yard, we would still have more squirrels than nature intended.  Don't worry about a few getting shot and making their way onto someone's dinner plate.  They are rats with long fur, and reproduce so rapidly no amount of small backyard hunts is going to even make a dent in Kingwood's population.  4951

@monyhoney:  Mine too.  They were poor and lived out in the country.  Whatever they could shoot they would eat.  They loved squirrel stew.

I heard that from other people, and Texas allows to kill squirrels to eat them, possibly also in many States 4951
