Having raised brothers, sister, children, grandchildren and babysat great grand children; I can tell you that you haven't seen anything yet!
If its a girl we are talking about, I assure you that in ten years, you are going to be certain that you are a blithering idiot.
The things get better; within the next three years, others will confirm your analysis that you have become an insane, blithering idiot.

Good luck, best wishes and prayers. Hang on for the most fun you will ever realize.

Give her a couple more years and she will have all the questions in the world.  Give her ten more years from then and she will have all the answers. Four generations of experience here. She will be just fine. It will be a challenging and exciting ride for you. And create a strong bond with her that will last your lifetime.  4951

God willing, you will a long life and a lasting friendship like no other.
BUT, you never know when God may decide to take them away...and that's when you really know the meaning of a daughter's smile.
Prayers for a long relationship for the two of you. 4951

It's funny that the age is sometimes referred to as the terrible two's, when it our case, the three's were much more difficult.  4951

Everytime she starts to throw a fit, have a shot. Eventually it will stop bothering you and will make it easier to ignore and when you ignore it, they stop. 4951

@buffaloglenn:

It hit at 15 months with both of ours. The boy can go full blown rage, the girl is just a drama queen. You can't even look at her wrong or it's like you kicked her puppy. 4951

@princecharming: I know exactly what you mean. My son gave me a lecture leek while I was in the hospital in Missouri.

It went like this: "I know I've let you travel all over the world and live where you wanted to, but if I'm going to take care of you, you're going to have to settle down...and start acting like a normal person. I'm not chasing you all over the world."

That sounded very familiar. It's what I told my mother when her and her 83 year old boyfriend ran off to get married! It was her idea to elope. 4951

I think each age has it's phases. They go from throwing temper tantrums to thinking they know it all (around 5 yrs old) to not wanting anything to do with you unless they want something. My 13 year old wants to pretend like I don't exist and when I tell her she can't do something or have something she tries to make life miserable (she's actually a great kid when her mood allows for it - or she is getting her way!) My 16 year old is very responsible but tries to push her limits to see what she can get away with and then getting mad when I put my foot down. They are both exhausting at times and I think they purposely try to wear me down, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I know when they go off to college I will miss forcing them to spend time with me or waiting up all hours of the night for them to get home.  4951
