With all the other med questions being posted, I'd like to ask if anyone on here has any experience or knowledge of the filters they put in your veins/arteries to catch blood clots.
I had heart bypass surgery 17 years ago and nearly died from blood clots. In a final effort to save me, the surgeon gave in to his nurse and agreed to install filters in my veins/arteries (7 of them). These filters were an "umbrella" type that were inserted through my groin.
I have more recently been advised that these filters have been causes of blood vessel ruptures and people bleeding to death internally (it's even been on TV).
My problem is two fold.
1. I can't find a doctor willing to discuss the potential problem (my heart doctor at the time has retired and the surgeon was fired from two hospitals shortly after my surgery).
2. I went to the hospital where the surgery was performed and the filters were installed and they don't keep records past 10 years. Therefore, they can't provide any info on the type of filters are where they are located.
I'm not one to panic but I've had more than 10 heart attacks and my reported heart efficiency is less than 23%. Since my bout with pneumonia in March, my BP has increased and my shortness of breath is worse.
Any info, link to info or a recommended doctor will be greatly appreciated. 4951
