I have a bird that just sits in the same spot in front flower bed.  It can walk and fly, so its not hurt.  Maybe it layed eggs?  I think its a mocking bird or sparrow but i am no bird expert.  Should i put fruit or seeds out? 4951

I would feed him. Maybe he hurt a wing and its hard for him to fly. Hopefully no cats around.. 4951

Mocking birds eat bugs so seeds (not sure about fruit) usually won't work if it truly is a mocking bird.BUT it also could be protecting a young one that is hiding in the flower bed that has not learned to fly. Getting to be that time of year. 4951

If it is protecting young, it could get aggressive. Be careful! 4951

Does your flower bed have rocks in or near it?  Some birds lay their eggs in those rocks for disguise.  We had one a few years back and it was so fun to watch the babies running all over the place when they hatched.  A bit stressful too though, as they seem so vulnerable on the ground like that.  The name of the bird we had was a killdeer.  They are the ones with long skinny legs that run around the ground (they also fly).  Whenever anyone approached, the mama bird would screech and run from the nest, dragging one of her wings and flopping around and pretend to be injured, trying to draw the predator far away from the nest.  I wonder if that's what you have in your garden.

@SandyKnee: i looked up a killdeer, its not that kind.  But i do have rocks between my flower bed and the foundation. but it sits on the mulch near the rocks.  It hasn't been aggressive.  I put some berries out but it hasnt touched them. 4951

I would not feed it- food attracts other creatures and if it on a nest or protecting nearby fledglings then the food brings unwanted attention. If the bird can walk and fly then it knows where the close by feeding stations are 4951
