So @retired_engineer and his wife are walking along at a shopping center and go past this new restaurant. Mrs. Oh wow, what is that incredible smell, it smells so divine!RE you know it does.Mrs. I bet that would be a wonderful place to eat.Now RE, being the kind hearted and generous soul that he is, thought what the heck, I can treat her.So RE turns her around and walks by one more time. 4951

True story.... my company recruited engineers from universities.  The best candidates were offered a plant visit where they were flown in, put up in a nice hotel, had a host take them out to a very nice supper and entertainment.  The next morning, one of the managers would meet the recruit for breakfast, check them out of the hotel, and then bring them to the plant for a tour and several interviews.  The last person of the day got them to the airport for their flight home.  Keep in mind that this was 1978-1982.I had been the host several times and really enjoyed being a host.  Then I got this single guy I will refer to as ******.  After a day at work (we both worked), we dressed up and left to go pick up ******.  He was to fly in to the New Orleans airport and take a shuttle to the Hilton across the street.  He should have arrived at least an hour before we were to pick him up.  When we got to the hotel, we found he had not checked in yet.  Thinking maybe he got hung up at the airport or shuttle, we sat in the lobby and waited.  Remember, there were no cell phones back then.  After a couple of hours, we headed home.  We took off our shoes and were thinking about bedtime. Between 9:30 and 10pm, I get a call from ****** that he is at the hotel and ready to go out!We put our shoes back on and went to pick him up.  We did take him out to a very nice restaurant.  I asked him why he was so late and he said he changed his flight to a later one.  It didn't seem to even occur to him to let me know!  During supper, he mentioned that he'd love to hear Jazz at the Preservation Hall.  He showed no interest in the company and asked no questions about it.   It was after midnight by the time we finished supper and I was a bit perturbed with him.  Debbie and I still had to get up early to go to work the next morning.  As we left the reataurant, I weave my car over to the street that the Preservation Hall was on.  As we approahed PH, I told him to roll down his window so he could hear some jazz, drove right past it, and I then drove him back to his hotel, and wished him a good night.  Needless to say, he get NOT get my recommendation to hire 4951
