Ever used that expression? My MiL told me tonight she doesn't feel well and must be "taking on a cold". I think it is an old expression. I asked her why? Sore throat or cough? ."No" she said, "I just feel like I'm taking on a cold." 4951

Haven't heard that one but my grandma, if something gets spilled, will say that it's going to "make aints" meaning ants will come. 4951

I picked up my MiL shopping list the other day and she asked me to get a can of October beans. I had to Google that one, seems like it is the term for cranberry beans used in Appalachia. And you don't find canned ones anywhere here that I could see, either October or cranberry. 4951
