Wow, all the rain has brought out the mosquitos!! Luckily the rain has also brought out a few toad frogs to my porch to snack on them. Growing up in this area 30 years ago, I recall every water puddle would have tadpoles. Now I did not see one tadpole in any water puddle after these rains. Seems the frogs are less too. Wonder if all the lawn and air chemicals have depleted them. 4951

Friday should be clear, but then Sat, Sun, and Monday are in the 90% and 80% chance of thunderstorms (if you can believe forecasts that far out).We usually have a lot of the little anoles (green lizards) all around our house to eat mosquitoes, but one of our dogs has taken to chasing the ones in the back yard.  When he catches them, I think he inadvertently kills them because he doesn't try to eat them.  We find several of their little carcasses outside the back door every few days. 4951

Oh, I love those little  anoles too! If you get close and say something to them, they act very animated. Sometimes I like to act goofy and ask one if he is selling Geico!!! 4951

We have a ton of those little anoles. I watched one this morning chase down a spider on the chimney. It was quite the pursuit and the spider got hung out to dry when it dropped 4' and hit the end of its silk. 4951

I think it just depends on where they're living. I'm in bear branch. I fertilized my yard a month ago. I have so many frogs in my yard that I can barely hear the tv in the evenings. It's nearly unbearable to sit in my back yard. At least the mosquitoes can be deterred with candles or spray or whatever. The frogs are SO FREAKING LOUD!!!

I've been here 6 years. Apparently they like the mid section of my block more than the woods and Creek at the end of the block. It's crazy how much louder they are here than at the creek. Nature is so weird. 4951

We had a little trailer at Lake Livingston, a weekend place. There was a glider bench that was next to a huge pine tree where I always had my morning coffee. One summer there was a particular anole which would climb down the tree and jump to my cup to drink as I set it on the table next to me every morning. I loved watching that little guy! 4951

I've been trying to finish my vegetable garden planting for over 10 days but it's been too soggy so the plants sit and wait. 4951
