It's been one of those weeks. Had stomach virus. Dog went to vet cost me $ bc she can't stop itching her butt & tail bc she has allergies. She got a shot & antibiotics bc her poor tail is swollen. Tree fell during storm. Husband got stomach virus yesterday while we were dealing w tree. Son cracked his phone. Faucet in tub need to be replaced. However, today is a new day. No one got her hurt. 4951

Oh poor you @pickles!!!Glad you still have a positive outlookEmoticonWow that tree falling had to have been scary for you and the neighbors.  Ask the vet if your dog can take Benadryl, most all can, just need to get the dosage.  We give ours Benadryl when we start having allergies and I have saved a ton in vet bills.  He use to get an ear infection all the time in the high allergy months.  Once we started the allergy meds, he hasn't had another ear infection.

@Fallon:

I was giving her benadryl pills. She is just a really bad itcher. I coat her w coconut oil. Bought hot spot sprays w cortisone done just about everything. Finally took her in. I felt so bad. She is doing better just in 2 days. I just have to laugh about all that is going on. No point in flipping out unwilling Dave that for another time lol. 4951

So who pays in these instances?  Do you pick up their deductible for your tree or are they stuck with it?

@Stealth83: I believe they are stuck with it.

Homeowners policy of the person who's property the trunk and roots are on is responsible for all. 4951

From Angie's list:Your tree falls on your neighbor’s houseIf your tree falls on your neighbor’s house, the basic, and almost always applied, rule is that the insurance policy of the property that was damaged pays for the loss. In other words, if your tree falls on your neighbor’s house, your neighbor’s homeowner’s insurance covers the damage to your neighbor’s house. 4951

@rugburn: That is true for an overhanging branch that falls on the property, which is considered negligence, but a downed tree during a storm is not the responsibility of the person who owns the tree.  The homeowner who has damage will be responsible for the damage.

Actually, called insurance they said I made my claim but since it was a living tree. The neighbor is responsible for her house her property & I mine. 4951

Interesting, then I stand corrected. When my neighbors pine about the size shown ripped down the fence and fell in my pool during Ike- they paid and I (nor my policy) wasn't involved. 4951

That's why I'm electing to have no trees in the new backyard.  Our previous house came with a small cluster of those tall thin pine trees that were destined to fall during a good storm.  We were lucky that it didn't happen. I'm all for some nice bushes or a wisteria in the corner...something that is easily controlled and won't get very tall.  4951
