Well, the move went pretty well (with the exception of the storm). We are now Hunters Ridgians. The house is unpacked and put away, but the garage is another story...That might take me a few weeks. I'm very anxious to get the pit fired up. It feels like ages since I've put some smoke to meat. I have to do some maintenance to the patio and yard before that happens though, which should be by this weekend. The youngest is already taking advantage of the bigger yard/driveway. She's spent almost all of her time out there, which is awesome...That was one of the biggest reasons we chose this place. The oldest loves the house too, but only because we're closer to Speedy Stop (where she gets her breakfast taco fix). The hounds are still feeling the place out. I'm sure once they've peed everywhere in the backyard, it'll feel more like home. The move hasn't affected their sleeping schedule at all though...They still nap like it's their job!Well, that's about it for now. I hope everyone has been well.Emoticon 4951

@Ray: Ahh, I see! Thanks for the tip! We'll give it a whirl here shortly. I hope the neighbor lady that has coffee on her back porch in the mornings doesn't mind a show. Emoticon  4951

@TheChad:  Did you buy or rent?  It seems like you just got settled in to the rent house after you sold your house!  Has the housing market dropped much in price?  Congrats either way on your move!

Did you buy or rent?

@Retired_Engineer: We're renting. The other place was just temporary, so we never really "settled". A lot of our stuff was never even unpacked because it was only gonna be for 6 months. Our house sold fast, and we weren't able to find what we wanted last fall. This was one of the first ones we looked at once our new search started in March. Ultimately, the wifey's plan was to rent for a couple years before deciding on where to build/buy permanently. I don't know exactly how the market is doing now, but I can say this house was cheaper than anything similar we looked at back in September. On a side note: This is the first time we've rented since our early 20's. It's a different experience for sure. Not bad...Just different.  4951

@The Chad....we are leaving on Sunday to go to Florida to look at homes to buy  . We just found out that there is a "water Tax" in Florida , if you can see the ocean from your home you have to pay a "water tax" , so we will not be looking at homes with an ocean view for sure . However Florida is like Texas it is income tax free , so that's a plus in our favor.  I dread the thought of packing & moving but  by moving to Florida we will save over $6,000 a year in Taxes that Kentucky charges us that Florida does not . So it will be well worth the move if we can find the right house. 4951

@WJo: Hmmm...I wonder if I can charge my neighbors an olfactory tax for getting to smell BBQ deliciousness. Emoticon Good luck with your search! I have a BIL in the Tampa area. They love it.  Emoticon  4951

@TheChad: Hey, as long as there's room for a night's worth of bottles, I think we're good.

@WJo: Just curious - does Kentucky have both a state income tax and a property tax?  I know Florida has no state income tax, but does assess property taxes and has a 6% sales tax if I remember correctly.  Their property tax rate may be lower.

Glad you all are happy with the new place.  Your new neighbors don't know how lucky they are yet.  First weekend you light up the pit will be an eye and nose awakening for them. Emoticon. Not to mention you and your family are some of the nicest people in Kingwood.   4951
