I am in need of good moving boxes. Is it best to buy some or check with local stores?

I haven't bought moving boxes in a few years. Drive up to any large retail strip, go around back and look for the large recycle bins. (They look like dumpsters but they're for box and bag recycle, not trash.) They're perfectly good, once used boxes. Sometimes broken down, sometimes not. Last move, I went to Humble behind PetSmart, Bed Bath and Beyond. Got a lot of good ones. Saves a ton of money. 4951

@foxymama: In the past, I've been able to get all the boxes I've needed from the guys at Walmart.
If I ask a few days in advance and give them an idea what I need, they stack them in the back for me.
Ask at the Walmart on 1960 west of 59

@foxymama, is your dh's company going to move ya'll?  If so, you really do not have to do a thing.  We have been moved 4 times by my dh's company.  They provided everything.  I killed myself packing things the first move.  Every move after that, I didn't waste my time.  They packed us and unpacked us.  That is the only way to moveEmoticon

@Fallon:
No, his company doesn't have a relocation department.
I need to box some things up to store just for decluttering. 4951

Uhaul on 494 has a bin inside the office where people bring back boxes for others to use.

They are free. 4951

Specs on Thursdays. Call ahead and ask them to set them on the side. Perfect size for most things and books do not become bricks. 4951

@beadweaver:   They have great boxes.  They are small enough for kids to carry when loaded and even come with dividers if you need them.   If you have breakables liquor boxes are the way to go.
