I just read a post on Facebook that Kingwood is on the list to be evacuated due to rising water, does anyone know details regarding this?  What area of Kingwood maybe? 4951

There are areas in Forest Cove near Hamblen Rd that have been/are being evacuated because the San Jacinto is flooding the area and rising after the lakes were released some...that is what I have heard. 4951

Forest Cove only, and only the part south of Hamblen, and it's still voluntary...  Saw that on KTRK I believe.  4951

@Butrflylilli: Forest Cove homes South of Hamblen road are being evacuated. Most of them are already in the water and all roads Siuth of Hamblen are covered Hamblen is closed between Forest Cove Road West to 494.
Roads are full of Fire and Rescue people assisting evacuating people.
Water is steadily rising all day so far.
Sorry but that's all I'm personally aware of.

I've got a friend that lives next to one of the inlets down Hamblen road and she said the water is lapping her back door. She is usually pretty high up from the water too. They have been packing all week. 4951

@Nurse3: Is she on the North side of Hamblen? I just saw a Uhaul box truck pull into that driveway.
They are still a few feet above the water level but I think they are wise to do something early rather than late.
It's hard to move wet furniture!

Please don't start any rumors about "Kingwood flooding".  During the last high water, some people were panicking because someone started a thread like this and it got misread.  If you were here during one of the last "floods", you know if you need to start preparing or not. If you are new to the area, then a simple question can be answered.  Forest Cove is usually hit harder than Kingwood proper since it is lower and closer to the river.  How many 100 year floods/rains can we have?!?  The term "100 year flood or rain" no longer holds any significant meaning.   Seven "100 year rains/floods" over less than 20 years means somebody in government needs their butt kicked. They need to redefine the flood plains.  I find the cartoon interesting because of the number of 100 year floods and why would someone continue to live in a flood-prone area?  4951

General rule of thumb, if you see palmettos it will flood and has flooded...so just the question becomes how much water does it take. 4951

Are any homes flooding in New Caney? Does not seem right if they are releasing all this water and flooding is disproportional meaning they have less and we have more considering they get to dump it on us. Not saying this is the case but worth looking at more closely. From what I have read some high dollar home up there that get more attention in that dept. 4951

@beastmode: I actually think much of our issues are coming from the run-off of Spring Creek which connects to the San Jac just west of Jesse Jones park. That area is having some huge issues with Cypress Creek which feeds into Spring Creek then all water feeds into the San Jac well away from New Caney.

@beastmode:

If they do not slowly release the water from Lake Conroe, it can stress the dam or levees and then there will be worse problems for everyone.

Just today there was a levee break over in Bear Creek Park and places that never had flooding flooded. It's better to release slowly than to have a break. People below the dam know this is to be expected...or they should know. 4951

@beastmode: I agree.  There must be some sharing of water among all economic classes... even if we have to take it from one class and give it to another.  BERNIE!   BERNIE!  BERNIE!
