First apt I lived in had a window planter box by front door.  Guess neighbor had planted a pot plant in it (I truly had no idea what pot looked liked if not a doobie).  Dear Mother came by one day and proceeded to pull them all up before I answered door, with all in courtyard watching, lol. 4951

@mutton: IDK, depends.  The older generation were far wilder than gen-xers.
Gen X is a strange group.  We are sandwiched b/w the boomers/ex hippie generation and the millennials. For the most part, the children of the Reagan era were conservative.  Wore our preppy little izod shirts, were terrorized by constant AIDS and drug lectures in schools, really thought we would all go up in swirls of radioactive dust clouds (thanks to all those books like "Alas, Babylon" they made us read).Yet, raised by parents who were often hell raising, pot smoking, sexual revolutionaries.Sure have seen a lot of dysfunction in my fellow gen x-ers as a result.  Midlife crisis seems to hit us harder, granted could just be my perspective. 4951

My grandmother had a hothouse she grew seedlings and things in for the garden, she had tropical she would bring in for winter etc.  One of her favorites was called Star of Texas, looked a lot like a hibiscus but the leaves were a five star fan.  My cousins planted their seeds in the pots and let her tend to their plants all winter.  Come spring, they would sneak in and harvest their crop.  Poor Granny was NOT happy when she found out what they had done!  She also had a king snake that lived in there, it kept all of us kids OUT! 4951

I did make a batch of medicated cookies one day and dw had just gotten home from work went to the kitchen and grabbed 2 cookies . Needless to say she was higher than planes that evening . She was so mad at me for not labeling them she even missed work the next day I felt so bad . Now she knows to ask before she has any treats I make . She does not partake in the herb but is very understanding when I choose to enjoy a smoke or a cookie . 4951

Back in the 80's I had a buddy who lived over in Meadows Place SW Houston, that had a large "crop" growing in the corner of his backyard. It was way taller than his 6 foot fence.Never had any problems with it either, go figure. 4951
