Just curious how folks are changing light bulbs in homes here that have high ceilings. Are you using very tall ladders, hiring someone to do it, or have you found a pole-type arrangement that gets the job done? I'd really like to do it myself and save the money, but the poles with attachments that I've used are junk, so if you've got a solution that works, I'd sure appreciate hearing about it.  4951

You have to have the proper attachment for the bulb type you are changing, with the polesI had a suction cup thingy for the spot lights, and a spring loaded cage like thingy for regular bulbs.I would not call them "da bomb" but they worked OK as long as you knew each ones in and outs. 4951

We have an old house in SWH so most of our ceilings are just 8 ft off the ground and I can stand on a step stool for those! We do have some track lights at the top part of our family room, it's like 14 ft and I am able to lean an extension ladder up on the beam but I've only had to do that once in the past few years. 4951

I've been here 14 years and I've never had to change one as of yet. Now in a few days one will go out and I'll need it change just because of this thread....

I have one of those pole things and I think it's DA BOMB! I had to change 40+ bulbs in our house when we moved in a few years ago and our ceilings are ridiculously high. Worked like a charm. 4951

I though some posted a how-to here before using simple hose hold items found in any house.

1. Ice chest
2. Extension ladder
3.one small child
