Well...I think later on after I get off of work I will have a few beers and listen to some Hagg.Interesting tidbit...He was an inmate at Folsom prison when Johnny Cash performed and recorded an album there. 4951

A huge blow to REAL country music. Not that crap you see at the rodeo every year or on the seemingly infinite number of "country music" award shows on TV nowadays.  4951

@magnoliamam: Country music is still very much alive and well in the Texas/Red Dirt scene.  The Hag was a huge influence on Jason Boland, Kevin Fowler, Bart Crow, and especially Cody Jinks.  Some of us are still writing and playing real country music regardless of the crap Nashville is peddling.  ;-)
RIP Merle.  Here's to hoping the good times aren't really over for good.  4951

@shodan66: i see that a bit, but not like it used to be....and I'm an old "Western Swing Music" fan/groupie - for 25 years have followed Ray Price, Bobby Flores and Billy Mata and the River Road Boys too....all across central Texas we went to their festivals and concerts and dances......for the good times......!!!  I'm still always connected to the real deal, just disappointed in the Nashville crap.....like you said

Rest In Peace, Merle....  You were definitely an Original Classic that shall never be duplicated, my friend....  I'm sure a lovely tune was in the air as you journeyed over that radiant rainbow...
