I picked up a nice size basil plant today. I can't eat tomatoes right now. What else can I use basil for? 4951

I still have my globe basil (going on it's third season) and was not that big of fan of Sweet/english basil I had last year. About the best use was crusty bread slices, with olive oil or butter, prosciutto (italian bacon) fresh basil leaves and feta cheese. put the oil and prusciutto on the bread and broil it until slightly crispy, then put on the basil and feta and eat it.This year I have two Thai Basil plants. That can be used in anything. If you have ever been to a Pho (vietnamese) soup place, that is the basil they serve to put in the soup.love that stuff. 4951

Not sure of the specific type I have but it tastes as good as it smells.  I roasted some red and yellow bell peppers and some purple and white carrots.  Then tossed it on some cauliflower rice and added feta cheese and fresh basil.  Very good! 4951

I use younglivings basil oil in so much I cant list it all. For cooking I use it in most beef or italian dishes. Even used it on develed eggs once. Different sauces for noodles.

Use it in a wellness blend on bottom of my feet daily but dont think you can rub a plant that way....lol. For occational muscle relief I use it in a coconut oil rub I make up and rub down tight muscles but cant use a plant that way either.

There are lots of recipes for detox drinks that call for basil with cut up fruits in cold water.

@Mahm: Yes, that sounds yum.  I have that already too!! I am going to make a watermelon basil water tomorrow.Pinterest has bunch of great ideas.  I forget to check there sometimes. Thanks!Like Basil butter garlic bread!!  That would be a great treat.  And i will add it to my homemade hummus instead of lemon.  Might even make a basil lime sugar scrub, i cant have the lime if i don't digest it.   4951
