After being challenged by a bunch of snot nosed 12 and 13yr olds, the other coaches and I decided to run a relay race around the bases with them at softball practice. They were amazed by this 35yr old dudes speed, but this morning I feel like I was hit by a bus. I think one of the other guys might even be dead, he barely made it around the bases. 4951

Soon instead of calling your knees left knee and right knee, you'll be calling them good knee and bad knee. 4951

Soon for no reason at all you will wake up in the morning and walk like hulk hogan for about 2 or 3 minutes before your muscles are loose enough to walk normal again. 4951

@myevilgrin:

I'm actually in pretty decent shape, although I have slacked off a bit over the past year. It's no thing for my DD and I to jump on our mountain bikes a knock out 15 miles. It's all the old injuries and bodily abuse that are starting to surface. I haven't exactly spent my years sitting at a desk pushing buttons. 4951

35 lol
At that age I was still dancing 10 hour days in 6" heels, hiking 3 miles every morning and out partying till dawn.
Saying that, a year later I was in a bad accident that laid me up for 6 months. I got back up only to be backed over by a semi a year later. Over the hood and up the windshield. Things haven't been able to heal the same. As they say, one day you wake walking like the Hulk or as in my case crawl to the bathroom, then my eyes go into search mode for that blissful hot sock of rice.
The only thing I've found to stave off the good lord I'm old feeling is keep moving.
Staying hydrated and loose.
I dance while I clean, squats are easy to get in. I'm short (5'2" at last measure) I shrunk a 1/4 ", so I have to stretch.
My husband is worse off due to his office job and time restraints.
We are both sliding into 60 and we are not slowing down but gearing it up.
A few weeks ago we had gone to the park and the kids we on the fields. I watched and the coaches had the boys running bases. Those boys hustled. It was exhausting watching them.
In my defense I see only two reasons to run.
1. If your scared
2. If you did something bad
I stand and fight and don't waste time doing bad things that takes more time from the things I love doing.
Now turn that music on and dance like nobody's watching. 4951

From 19-25 I was working on drilling rigs, if not working then I was in the gym lifting, mma ect. and broke a few bones and had a few surgeries along the way. From 25-30 I was working my way through the ranks on the well servicing side (frac, coil tubing ect.) and again, tore a few tendons, slipped a few disk ect. I was still hitting the gym hard and even competed. 30-33 started spending more time traveling and less time working out. 33-35 I've been able to leave the field and the manual labor for upper management positions. Seems like when I hit 35 a switch went off and ALL the wear and tear caught up to me at once. 4951

I'm feeling it today too- need to up my weights in strength trainingYesterday- hauled 5-50lbs bags of rock into and out of the car and to the new garden along with 3-50lbs of sand and 5 bags of mulch. Mulch isn't usually that bad but it was soaking wet.Hubs dug 3 whellbarows full of dirt out of the new garden while I cleaned out my River Rock border to make room for more River Rock that we hauled out of the old garden. Then today I cleaned out 2 flower beds to make room for the dirt from the old garden- got rid of almost half of the dirt pile and spread 3 bags of mulch.I still need to distribute the rest of the dirt - but I think I'm done for the day. My back and hamstrings are tired. Texas gardening isn't for the weak!! In Ohio we clean out the beds and replant and trim bushes once a year. Down here it's a never ending chore!!!! 4951

Gawd, this "my aching butt" pitty party is just sad. Y'all make it sound like life is over and nothing but pain after 30. No wonder kids think 30 is old. Emoticon 4951
