If you want to attend Kingwood High schools and you live anywhere in the US, you can fill out a form if you are 18 , saying that you are a homeless teen and you can go to school there for free. Free breakfast and free lunches everything free. Oh yeh and if you live in Kingwood and pay those high school and property taxes then guess what...you pay for all their "free education and food"....end of rant 4951

If My school and property tax can also help some less fortunate kids that would be actually a good use of the money... 4951

This just made me curious... At what point are you 'too old' to attend classes at a high school? Is there an age where you just have to go get a GED at a different location?

Are you people high today? Supporting more handouts without a checks and balances system to review for fraud? 4951

@terilyntx:    http://www.neola.com/collier-fl/search/policies/po5112.01.htmIn order to provide reasonable consistency of maturity levels among students in the regular high school program, no person shall be permitted to attend the regular high school program after attaining the age of twenty-one (21). Those who attain the age of twenty-one (21) during a school year may complete that school year. Persons who are eighteen (18) years old or older and who, by earning eight (8) credits per academic year, cannot meet graduation requirements, including grade point average (GPA), prior to the end of the school year during which they attain the age of twenty-one (21), shall not be permitted to attend the regular high school program beyond the end of the academic year in which they attain the age of eighteen (18). Such persons shall be afforded an opportunity to pursue a high school diploma through the Adult High School or General Educational Development (GED) programs of the District. The provisions of this paragraph limiting enrollment of students between the ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-one (21) years shall not be automatically applied to students served by the District’s Exceptional Student Education Programs for students with disabilities. The provisions of this paragraph may, however, serve as guidelines for Staffing/IEP Committees as the educational needs of students with disabilities are individually considered. The District will provide services to students with disabilities until the end of the semester in which they turn twenty-two (22).

That's why all these 18 yr olds leave home (because their are rules in their home) and go hang out together and get into all kinds of trouble.

@ Kirklandnancy I think this portion of the rules, will eliminate out most of the 18yr olds you describe:
Persons who are eighteen (18) years old or older and who, by earning
eight (8) credits per academic year, cannot meet graduation
requirements, including grade point average (GPA), prior to the end of
the school year during which they attain the age of twenty-one (21),
shall not be permitted to attend the regular high school program beyond
the end of the academic year in which they attain the age of eighteen
(18). Those aren't the kids with the good grades who want to graduate anyway. The students seeking this program are normally self driven kids with bad circumstances. They aren't being provided housing & a clothing allowance. They are being given the opportunity to attend a good school and get two meals a day. 4951

If you feel it's a good use of your money, then donate your money.  Don't force other people to donate theirs. 4951
