Please help me make a decision on what's best. What is the difference in the two and where if the best place to buy one?! I'm not tech savy so I need your help.

Thanks in advance. 4951

There are lots of comparisons on the internet.  Just Google "ipad vs android" and you'll find plenty of comparisons.I've never been an Apple fan.  To me, they are over-priced.  I have a Samsung Tablet and am very happy with it. 4951

Bubble,An Ipad is a tablet.  It is the number 1 selling tablet in the US for a very long time now.  There are other brands of tables that are not Apple such as the Samsung tablets.  Ipad comes in 3 different sizes now.The Ipad mini ( 8"x 5.3" )The Ipad Air/9.7"Pro (9.4" x 6.6")Ipad Pro  ( 12"x 8.68" )Other manufacturers make similar size models.I have used many others as well as the apple products and would have to say for easy of everyday use and portability I would probably go with the Ipad Air 2 or 1 or the Ipad Mini.  Hard to go wrong.  You can get them at Best Buy or the Apple Store or online.  You will not find much of a price difference if any.  Best Buy has a good selection of tablets so you can feel them and see if they are comfortable.    4951

You basically have two operating systems to choose from.  Apple uses their own iOS, and most other manufacturers use Android.  Microsoft is a distant third using a version of Windows 10.  You don't actually have to know the operating system.  You control things using various settings.  Both operating systems have their advantages and disadvantages.  In my opinion, neither have an overwhelming lead.As for size, consider what you plan to use it for (as well as your eye sight).  I initially bought a 7" Samsung (Android) and had trouble browsing the internet and reading the electronic newspaper.  I gave that one to my daughter and bought a 10" Samsung (Android).  It's just right for me.  I can do what I want on it and it's not too bulky or hard to hold.  It came with a blue-tooth keyboard but I could not get used to its smaller size.Another Goggle search for "best tablets for 2016" will also give you several different good  web articles.Good luck! 4951

I too would like one but am not tech savvy and get so confused.
I am not sure if I should go tablet, replace my phone, or get a new laptop. If I go lap it has to be light and have a detachable keyboard with touch pad.
I'd like the one you can draw and paint on. My budget isn't that high. Lol 4951

I have a tablet thru Verizon.  It was free last fathers day weekend to get it but I have to pay 10 bucks per month for the service.  I don't know anything about them either.  Good luck finding the one that's best for you.  I think I screwed myself but you live and learn. 4951

Both operating systems are good. You mentioned you are not tech savvy and I can identify. We have Apple, the iPhone 6 & iPad Air 2 and love both.

Apple has a great support system & that is important to us. They have a store at the Woodlands Mall you can make an appointment when you have an issue that requires help. And when you purchase Apple Care you receive 2 years of phone support and two device replacements with a deductible.

It boils down to which system you feel more comfortable so ask a lot of questions and do your research. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for responding, I'm so gratefull. Basically I need it for surfing the net, shopping, online banking and paying my bills. I prefer a large one since I'm damn near blind and all my purses are large so I'm sure it will fit. Going to Best Buy today.

Again, thanks everyone! Emoticon 4951

I would get a 2-1, much more useful. We have a Lenova Yoga and it has a real keyboard but also can be folded for just a tablet. My wife loves it using Windows 10. Apple is good bur way over priced and more of a status thing to me. The competition has completely caught up to them and often passes them. 4951

@Mrep43:

No I haven't, there were too many choices and the salesman was giving and asking too many questions.... I left even more confused...
