@MarT:
Having wood put down downstairs and new carpet up...i thought i would save a little money and do this part myself..

You couldnt pay me enough to do this again and im not even doing the kitchen yet but when i get ready to, i will be paying someone else, .this was just a little 80sq ft entry..im bleeding all over the place and there is dust every where..i have to be done by wednesday so they can level the floor and have yet to get the upstairs ready for new carpet..

I thought this happened last year. Was that just a patch or something? You hated this part then. 4951

I know how you feel, dang sorry.  We made a deal with our general contractor to paint our own trim and Anderson wood windows on a new build ages ago.  $1000 was totally NOT worth it! 4951

You need a cold chisel for that. Not a screwdriver. 4951

@DanStanton:

I needed lots more different toys for this job...i got the tile up..working on the thinset now..it has to be done by 11ish tomorrow..

I DID on recommendation get a chisel thing and that helped a lot..the screwdriver and hammer worked too! 4951

My husband recently did our kitchen. He went to harbor freight and bought a pneumatic tool to do it with....was a little $100 but totally worth it. There was dust all over but he did the entire kitchen / breakfast room in about 2 hours....just an idea you might want to look into 4951

Ive got teenage boy power working it now..if he puts just a fraction of the effort into this as he puts into other stuff...it should get done quicker..

@herron1345 i was told that sun glasses are not the same as safety glasses...i agree. She did get a booboo on her finger because she wasnt wearing gloves. I sent her outside to play after that. 4951

I did that to our bathroom- worked out all my anger issues. Actually it wasn't so bad. I'd give the tile a couple of good whacks and then use a heavy duty putty blade- get it under the grout and then hammer the handle of the blade to force it under the grout and the tile would pop loose. I hated when the tile would come up in pieces. Getting ready to do it in my entry way and dining room. Not looking forward to the dining room- some moron cemented the wood floor to the foundation- it was a real mother to get that up in the family room!! 4951

Luckily, the Donald has not yet sent packing all the non-English speaking, questionable immigration status folks (is that PC enough?). That is how I get up tile. Those boys get at it. 4951
