I've been here a few years, but saw this for the first time, last week....On my way home from work (around 4pm), 3 boys in the middle of the "lake" (the shallow water south of Kingwood Dr near 494/59/the RR tracks).  They were in shorts, no shirt.  There were a couple of other boys watching and a few running up there to watch or participate... all barefoot, bare chested, some had backpacks, ... no fishing polls, and definitely not such a hot day that they just needed to cool off EmoticonIs this something that happens often?  It's posted no fishing/no trespassing (i know that doesn't stop boys), but I know there are crawfish out there (omg that freaks me out) because I've seen the big birds grabbing them.  I'm just curious if this is some "initiation" thing I need to worry about when my 10 year old son is 16.  Emoticon.Just curious - Thanks! Saw them out there last night about dusk.
Thought they were crazy but then, aren't all teenagers?

I know I was!

Added: if that's the worst trouble they get in, we're all bless'd! 4951

Years ago, an alligator hung out in that pond.  Bet wading up on one of those would put the shenanigans to a stop! 4951

It grosses me out to see people fishing there.  The idea of swimming gives me the willies!  I have seen people, in the summer, swimming in there.  I would be terrified of the alligators and other critters or debris bumping up against me and thinking it was a gator.  Nope, not for me thanks! 4951

Last weekend I saw a whole group there but they had a bunch of fishihg poles.... which suprised me considering the sign that says NO FISHING.. and in broad daylight where there was a lot of traffic. My thought was... ballsy. 4951

Tween and teenaged boys are always looking for stupid things to do. I'm the with rest of you.  Gross as it is, at least they aren't doing something much worse. 4951

Glad they are being knuckle-heads outside and not smartphone zombies inside. It's pretty gross/dangerous, but there are worse things, I suppose. Emoticon 4951

We were just talking about this last weekend as I was looking for my golf ball in a pond and one of my buddies tried to push me in. I reminded him of how we used to get out in the golf ponds and hunt for golf balls as kids. Feeling down in the mud-"oops that's a snake not a ball" and never gave a care about what else was in there. I told him I'd scream like a girl if I fell in the pond now as it's gross and something would attack me (lol). We're supposed to get tougher-not weinerier (that's a word). 4951

Used to be an initiation into high school.... the freshman would get picked up at the Ace Hardware Street dance by the incoming senior class and get thrown in and have to swim to the Kingwood sign (back when it was still wooden). Now I am sure that does not happen anymore but I mean I would rather have kids messing around in the ponds than smoking pot in the tunnels or playing video games.... As long as they don't get hurt... I don't mind. 4951

Crawfish? Alligators maybe, but crawfish? I don't think I've ever heard of a crawfish related death, except maybe someone choking on one at a backyard boil. 4951

@erfa: I don't know....maybe they get mutated in that water and travel in herds...roaming the lake looking for their next victim.  Sounds like the plot for a wonderfully bad low budget horror flick!  LOL

I would think you need a immunization shot after swimming in that dirty water... I wouldn't want my son in that water, nor would I eat fish from there either. Yuk
