I'm really, really picky about my nails and for a while, my nail tech was doing great work. The past 2 appointments, though, it's clear that I need someone different. I like my nails to not be too thick and taper down to my natural nails at the base. I want them to look very natural and almost always get a pink and white manicure. Does anyone have a nail tech they highly recommend? 4951

I love Christine at Tipsy Nails! She's really good and her English is understandable. She's never hurt me and I do wear my real nails. I do the powder overlay, so mine is a little thicker. I'm so klutzy I can even mess up shellac, so she hasn't done shellac on me. But she makes comments about my nails not looking too thick. She totally noticed someone else's work that was too thick. Hope that helps! 4951

@yankeejessica: What is an overlay? It sounds like what I've been looking for. I've had acrylic nail tips forever but really just want something very natural looking -- like my own nails (which are thin and tear easily) but with a layer of something that will protect them. Is that what an overlay is? 4951

Cindy nails in the feeder plaza near lubys and Los cucos. Never had a bad experience there

That is a man opinion however. If ever in person I will deny, deny, deny!

@yankeejessica: What's an overlay? Is it the same as acrylic nails?

@HollyHobby, I think "overlay" usually means that they simply have the acrylic powder applied over their natural nail, instead of having a tip glued on.  I actually don't care for Kimmy at Kingwood Super Nails.   She's the owner, right?  She's great at running the business but I don't like how she does my nails - she's left ruts in my nail bed and nicked me with the spinning doohickey.  There's another one there named Lee who is the BEST. 4951

I've been nicked a couple times, but it's never bothered me too much.Lee is great too, I've never had a bad experience there. They are on Rustic Woods across from the Wendy's and carwash 4951

I have been going to the "new" place in town center by where that French restaurant used to be.  Place is called VIP Nails and Spa, I see John.  So far very happy with them. 4951

@allymansfield: I like VIP nails, but John has just not done a good job the past two times. He's complained about having too much work since two of the techs have been gone for weeks.

@HollyHobby: I have only been twice and both time he did a good job for me.  I get the solar (I think) nails so maybe that is why?

I went to Mary at Tipsy Nails yesterday. She's very, very nice. Excellent English. She removed my acrylic tips and gave me a gel manicure, which I hope keeps my own nails from tearing. 4951
