I went to Conroe Regional Hospital Friday morning because of what looks like cellulitis. They prescribed me Clindamycin, Keflex, & I already had Bactrim. I'm scared if it gets worse by the morning it might actually be the "flesh eating" bacteria! Which Houston area hospital is best for infectious diseases? I hope it will show improvement overnight, but I want to be ready.

Thanks 4951

 Well, the last time my wife was at Kingwood, Dr. Girgawy was called in for her case, he is without  a doubt the go to guy for Infectious Disease. I don;t know where else he has privileges at, but he is a great doc.  4951

They are all about the same. Kingwood uses their own private team. I believe memorial uses cdc.

They will not call either in untill test come back positive for infectiouse disease. If you are not happy with that drs diagnose than go to another. Go until you get answers you are happy with. 4951

Houston Methodist in the Med Center is one of the best. I was there for two surgeries, one of them major. I was very impressed. I was told by a neighbor that they had a 30-40% better survival rate than other hospitals. Lot of big wigs from around the world go there, supposedly. 4951

@DVaz: My mom gets that every few years in her arm. She's s breast cancer survivor and they had to take her lymph nodes on that side under her arm alone with the tumor itself. It's a serious infection but has never turned into flesh eating bacteria. If you truly have cellulitis, you should be in the hospital in isolation under infection control measures. 4951

@Burnsway:

Not necessarily. If it looks like an abnormal infection then they will call them in right away. Dr G is the best i have seen so far. 4951

Be sure to drink lots of water to help flush your kidneys after all that and you might want to ask your doc about a probiotic. 4951
