Anybody have any experience taking Zoloft? I'm feeling very flat, don't care if I eat, unmotivated. 4951

@becky77351:

You have to ditch the pills and bury this into your mind. Go to sleep and wake up saying it.

If you are having issues you should address them with your doctor. Everyone reacts differently to different drugs. I urge you to talk to your doc- feeling flat or having a flattened mood state is a red flag- ESP for an antidepressant 4951

@becky77351: how long have you been taking them? There is generally a period (about a week or two) where your body needs to get used to the side effects before you start feeling better. I have tried Zoloft. Give it a try before you give up on them. With antidepressants sometimes you have to go through a few before you find the right one for you but you always have to give it that first couple of weeks before you know whether it is a hit or miss. Hope you get to feeling better. Chin up. Emoticon

@becky77351: You may want to talk to your doctor about other options. Zoloft was not a good fit for me. I did not like the side effects at all myself. There are plenty of other better options out there with far less side effects (no weight gain, no weight loss from not wanting to eat at all, no sexual side effects) But everybody is different and you wont know unless you try and talk with your doctor. But if you are feeling this bad after 2 weeks of taking it everyday then I would say switch. Not much will change after this point other than maybe your body just getting used to the drug.

Also it takes up to 6 weeks for it to even start working. at first I thought it was not helping I didn't stop taking it and after about 7 to 8 weeks I started feeling just 100 times better. 4951

@becky77351: That's a good idea, give it a shot...if you get to feeling too low or too bad, just please call your doctor...and read the medication guidelines about all the side effects. Things will start looking up in no time I am sure Emoticon

I took Zoloft a number of years ago, and yes, it takes a pretty long time to work, especially if your doctor started you off on a low dose like mine did.  I took it for probably a month, felt no real difference, then she upped my dose, and about 2 weeks after THAT, I started feeling better, more  human.  4951

I can't be alone here...? You don't need pills, especially if they're making you lose your will. To do anything. Sex drive, smile, take out the trash, whatever.

They didn't have pills centuries ago and here we are. If you're able to post a literate message on this board, you're not bat---- crazy or end-of-world depressed.

Ditch the pills. Work out. Exercise. Punch a bag. Walk, run, lift weight until you can't. Scream into a pillow. BREATHE DEEP. Let the stress out, face it. You will NEVER find happiness in a pill.

You've got to go after it. Fight the disease in your head, not the symptoms. I dare you to try it once. "Be the Hero of your own story".

Just make today NO EXCUSE OR LAZINESS DAY. Just one day.

Act weird. Do SOMETHING. 4951
