Because this is such a large problemBeyonce and her backup dancers channeled the Black Panthers to bring attention to the Black Lives Matter movement at Sunday’s Super Bowl 50 halftime show when they performed the just-released “Formation,” and some people aren’t happy about it, according to New York Daily News.LINK 4951

If people respected life they wouldn't be wasting the little unknown amount of time they have hating on something, anything just to hate.
Me I'm going to go play and relish in the beautiful day we've been granted. 4951

It has been EXCEEDINGLY difficult for me to refrain from commenting on my Facebook friends status regarding the Beyonce matter. I have absolutely no problem with Beyonce having her own stance & supporting her own race & heritage- that's a beautiful thing! But the Super Bowl wasn't the time or place for that song IMO. Would it have been cool with everyone if a white country performer sang about taking pride in their confederate country roots during a halftime Super Bowl show? Hell no! People would be up in arms rallying, protesting, demanding apologies, fines, AND GETTING THEM! That's just how it is. It's one thing if it's a concert or an event catered to a group of people who are on the same page as her & what she's singing about, but a melting pot of *families* watching the super bowl wasn't the appropriate platform for that song or performance IMO. Not to mention the fact that her all black, no whites allowed back up dancers were wearing black panther tribute outfits was essentially the equivalent of all white back up dancers wearing KKK hoods & robes as well. Defend her video any way you'd like, but I have zero respect for anyone who disrespects our law enforcement in anyway, shape, or form. Ask any officer what they think about it & I guarantee they won't take it lightly. Instead of the BS she put in her excuse of a video, why not empower people by singing the importance of education & bettering oneself to come out on top rather than "sippin quervo & goin off"?!? Yet she says cops are the problem... #ALLlivesmatter. COPS TOO! I sincerely hope that some of her fans stop drinking her kool aid after that performance & realize what she's been feeding them all this time.

@Heathur:
That performance and song had nothing to do with her supporting her race and heritage. Trust me. The majority of black people have no interest whatsoever in the BLM movement.

I really need to look at the performance again. I couldn't understand a word of what she was saying and her dance, attire, ect. was typical Beyonce. I didn't even realize it was about BLM until the internet exploded.

@Heathur: Couldn't agree more.  What a double standard.  She should have used her platform as a rally to pull people together rather than break them apart.   I will no longer buy any of her music, as I protest her protest.  Oops; I didn't buy any of her music before either.  She is still bootylicious though.

@Heathur:
When has Beyonce ever sang about education and bettering oneself? As with most Hollywooders, 95% of this was propaganda to stay relevant and push sells. No different than Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.

@J2911:
lol I said I can't hear a word of her song. It's a boring half time show. My dh agreed and them it all blew up.
I'm actually lol at all the stupidness over it all. As far as the whole face media thing, I tend not to comment and scroll on down to something I actually enjoy reading and seeing.

@J2911:

Agreed! I just wish that instead of sending the message in her video that cops are the bad guys & singing to her audience about "sippin quervo, goin off, & slaying", she would have instead used her platform to send a message of doing something more positive. In a perfect world, right? Now I realize that super bowl shows are going to be mostly pop artists & I can get past a little skin showing, but the message she was getting across just wasn't family or super bowl friendly. Justin/ Janet Super Bowl was pretty crazy too & they were banned, apologized, & fined out the butt! 4951

Why do we even give these people the time of day? They are entertainers, not role models or political figures and we should not treat or look to them as such. 4951

I listen to the occasional Beyonce song if it plays on the radio, or is on a movie soundtrack I like (FIFTY SHADES), but I don't consider myself a fan, nor would I spend money on the music or concert tickets. I also don't wait for her music to drop, nor do I sit up and take notice if she is on TV.  She's a typical Hollywood opportunist...she saw a platform of 100 million viewers and took it.  This "controversy" has people talking, rallies being held and people in an uproar.  Marketing mission accomplished!!   It's just like Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction."  You can't tell me that wasn't planned down to the second.  They might not have clued Justin Timberlake in on the scam, but no doubt her people knew all about it.  I don't care either way about who she is or what she does, really. I don't wish her ill will by any means, but I'm just indifferent.  If more people took that attitude about her and most of the Hollywood peeps, TMZ and other gossip rags would be out of business.  4951

I had no idea a political statement was made until the uproar on the internet informed me.  I thought it was a tacky plug for Red Lobster. 4951
