Just noticed we are getting some water leaking from the bottom of our clothes washer. It's about 7-8 years old so I'm thinking a seal.  Hate to have to buy a new one if it can be fixed for a reasonable price.  It's a Whirlpool Cabrio without the center agitator thing which I kind of like for towels and sheets as things don't seem to get so tangled up. 4951

I was going to suggest Pauls' too.  I have heard lots and lots of good things about him/them.My washer and dryer is like 25 +/- years old so one of these days.... 4951

Thanks, I recall Paul being recommended in the past. I watched some YouTube videos on replacing the seal and bearing kit on my machine and besides being quite a bit of work to break down the machine to get to the part you need a tool that costs $95 and one would probably never use again unless you hire out to fix these machines. I don't mind DIY but I don't think it makes sense this time! 4951

Just spoke with Paul on the phone, sounds really nice. He said the noise I hear (sounds like loose change or small pebbles rattling in the spin cycle) is probably debris in the pump and it isn't too hard to replace. However he said the leaking bit of water could be a couple things but if it is a seal it isn't worth fixing in his opinion as he charges around $400 for the job, it is quite labor intensive. He is coming tomorrow and his service call fee is $48 so if I decide to no go on with the repair I won't have spent much. We have an older GE washer and dryer in storage, it was the ones we had before we got these newer machines from my stepson when they upgraded. So I could just go get the washer and bring it back.  We had been saving it for our son and his family when they come back down from Alaska, he has a bunch of stuff in the storage building so is planning to come get it some day. We really don't want to have to blow the money on a new machine if we can avoid it. 4951
