Dew points are in very low double or single digits out there. By that parameter, we are drier than Death Valley and Las Vegas, just to name a few places. Relative humidity is extremely low. This coupled with moderate winds are very drying. Be careful with open fires and keep the lotions/lip balm handy. If exercising outside, the evaporation rate will be extremely high, so hit the fluids a bit more than usual as skin perspiration will be less perceptible. 4951

Several brush fires up around us.  I don't get what would possess a person to burn today. 4951

Not a fan of this wind. I like running outside in shorts. I refuse to wear pants. I have an indoor treadmill but it is a last resort. I'm not a sissy either, retired military, I can do it but not unless I have to do it. One winter I was training in Wisconsin and my water bottle froze solid. Screw that!!! 4951

I just picked up sticks and pine cones from the yard yesterday and now it looks like a tropical storm blew thru. Emoticon 4951

@analogkid: I was in Las Vegas last weekend. The weather was awesome but it was VERY dry there. My eyes were itchy dry and lips were chapped.

@beastmode: Wha?!  Where are you?  It's not cold out; just windy.  I ran during my daughter's swim practice tonight at AHS on their XC course and thought it was great out, save the stiff headwind at times.

@WskyTngoFxtrt: Always dry there, that you can count on.  A bit unusual here when it gets this "arid".

Yeah, I'm just not into it anymore. It takes too long to warm up. I'm more of a heat runner. I can run with a heat index outside of over 100. Does not bother me.   4951

@beastmode: I kind of get it.  In Washington, I used to be fine in shorts and t-shirt with light gloves, or a L/S shirt down into the 30s, before having to go to another layer.  I think I'd be in trouble trying to do that now.  I've actually gotten used to doing track workouts here in the summer - just not middle of the day. :-) 4951
