I'm not a huge fan of the traditional standards like potato salad, pork 'n beans, etc., with ham. I prefer a slight spin on them and go for alternatives:

Buttered and dilled red potatoes (halved or quartered.)

Steakhouse or ranch style beans.

Broccoli salad with raisins, bacon, purple onion, etc. 4951

My aunt has given me her cold pea/green bean salad recipe.

Now, to decide between mac and cheese or potatoes of some sort.

Do I need something else to accompany the three things? If so, what? 4951

What about a fresh fruit salad, or melon balls? You already have ham, startch and the pea/bean salad. Those are heavy dishes, so let the last one be a natural, whole food, unaltered dish. 4951

@Annie: Green salad is good, too, as long as it is something lighter and clean, for balance. Veggie kabobs would be a great addition as well. Big chunky grilled veggies with just seasoning and a bit of olive oil sound good with the rest of the menu.

That's just my preference but it's totally your gig. You can't go wrong with family favorites. 4951
