I went to pick my DW up at about 8pm, her flight home was delayed as her plane was coming to Chicago from Boston where it was snowing all day; she got in about 3 hours late. She texted me upon touchdown and I started out for the airport, since she had checked a bag I stopped for gas and then stopped at the cell phone lot along Will Clayton. After a bit she texted me that bags from her flight were coming down and I could just head to the pickup area at terminal C. Normally if she just has a carryon I pick her up at the far end of the drop off area upstairs and just avoid the pickup below but as she had a larger suitcase (winter clothes for Chicago) I stayed on the lower level. It was pretty packed, I think there must have been a lot of delayed flights since 8pm on a Friday is usually late for it to be so crowded. A guy at the entry point pointed for me to go into the far right lane which was wide open. The pickup area has 3 sections with 3 lanes each, but the center one has Chevron marks and is a through lane. They had cars parked and waiting in it and the waiting lanes on either side were open which seemed odd. I got to the end and stopped, I was going to text the DW to tell her where I was. That's when a little lady in a safety vest with a flashlight came up and shouted at me to keep on going. I rolled down my window and she yelled again. I said, "but this is a pickup lane. you've got all the cars in the through lane!" She insisted I move on, saying "Don't argue with me you have to go around the airport and come back in!"I asked for an ID number as I was going to complain to her supervisor about being so rude. "Get the H--- out of here or I'm calling HPD!" "I want your badge number," I insisted. She started walking away talking into her walkie talkie for assistance. I got my phone and tried to get her picture but she turned her back on me. I decided to go on as it wasn't worth arguing with a cop. The frustrating thing is you have to drive all the way back out Will Clayton to make a u-turn since they removed the old u-turn lane that used to get you back to C. I called my wife and told her to head upstairs to the Departure drop off and by the time I got there she was waiting. I think we will just do that every week now, she is Chicago bound for the next 8 weeks. 4951
You should have acted like you didn't speak English. It works for me everytime! They usually ***** about this being America and I should learn English as they're walking away. 4951
Last couple times I needed to pick someone up at Bush I parked at one of the lots and rode the van to the terminal. Â Was truly great! Â They pick you up at your vehicle and drop you off at your vehicle... 4951
