Anyone else have a larger than normal water bill this month? My usage is the same as it was in July. Hoping I don't have a leak somewhere. I can't find one anywhere, but hoping there is not a problem I can't find. 4951

If its from the COH, it may just be the rate increases they sent us letters about.

I don't remember what the last letter said but it did involve increased costs.

Saying that, I did experience a small leak this past month in a toilet fixture that was less than a year old. When I check it, the flush stopper had swollen unevenly as if attracted by the water, causing it to leak.

I filled the tank and shut the water off. The tank drain in less than five minutes. That equates to a lot of water usage over a month.
I've gotten to the point that I check my toilets every few days and shut the hole house off if we're going to be gone several days.

I won't tell you what the bill was on a house down there when my grand kids left a toilet running for a month last year!

In Missouri, I have my own well and good water costs me less than 10% what the bill is for just "run off water" in COH. 4951

I believe the last one was in regards to increased rates for treating the run-off water. Which I still don't understand why that can't just run to the creeks and rivers. That's where God had planned to put it when he made it rain. 4951

I never received a notice.  My water bill actually went down about $10.00.  Normally it is $27.90, this month it was $19.99...

We got burned our first Fall in this house, when we had a leak we didn't know about. COH called when we reached 66K gallons to let me know that we had "higher than normal" usage. Meanwhile, 20K would have been higher than normal for us!Now I just monitor my bill, and usage, online. I've found our bill has gone down a bit the past couple of months. Granted, we're not running sprinklers... 4951

I did not realize you could monitor usage online, I am doing that today, my usage jumped last month, although not really outrageous, if I have a leak, I want to catch it early.Thanks everyone.   4951

Turn all faucets off in the house. While not showering, laundry, or flushing, go outside and lift your meter cover. If your meter  is spinning (or even slowly moving) you have a leak somewhere (inside or out) or a faulty toilet or stopper valve. 4951

@rugburn:

Thanks, I'll do that. Great info. My water bill was about the same as always $65. 4951

We can't help with the payment amount alone. How many thousand gallons did you consume/use. I would guess that bill would yield use of about 10,000 gallons. If you used about that, your bill is "right" if you accept the outrageous water rates here in Kingwood. 4951

@ForeCPA90Go out and look at the usage manager on your account.  It might show you what hours the water was used to figure out where the problem might be.It's kinda funny,  it usually just me and hubby, I can see when someone got up during the night, got up and took a shower, cooked and cleaned up dinner.  4951
