So I got a ticket for $240 because I sat out my big trash a week early and a neighbor called it in! Who does that? Really is it that big of a deal? 4951

Unfortunately, it is. People purchase homes in heavily deed restricted neighborhoods to keep things looking nice and keep property values up. If you do not share those desires, and you like leaving trash out for a week, then you might be happier in another neighborhood. 4951

I gotta admit if furniture sat at the curb for a week, I a may call it in....  Just does nothing for the appearance of the neighborhood a day or two I would overlook, but not a week. 4951

@LeighKingwood: Was the ticket from the City of Houston?

@LeighKingwood: A ticket from who?  What neighborhood?  That's BS... There are a lot of houses that leave they bagged up lawn debris out for a week without repercussions.

@LeighKingwood: So who gave you the ticket, the City of Houston?  Wow, I would have thought a warning would have been the first action and a ticket/fine the absolute last scenario..........I would never have thought that punishment would be so swift and harsh!!!!   Sure sorry to hear that happened to you -

Fine is very steep...seems excessive but I don't know.....here in Forest Cove heavy trash day seems to be whatever day they have it . It sits in the front yard yard for weeks. Looks like crap...rotted wood, crumbling press board junk. Yeah, I'm 100% for a fine within reason.   4951
