Bernie actually has very specific plans on how to pay for his recommended programs and even breaks the implementation down step by step.  I've found him to be, by far, the most prepared and thorough candidate when it comes to his plans.  This, coming from a life long Republican that will be pulling for Bernie in this one.  berniesanders.com/is sues/The right, imo, has shifted so far right that they all now just seem to be pandering for votes and have little to no substance, shifting stances based on what is popular.  Our education systems and health care systems are in terrible shape and need of reform, and I think he is the only one prepared to get it done.  A generation of young people coming up with solid educations and not burdened with 150k of student loan debt out the front door will be a generation of investors and small business owners.  If you want to increase the GDP, you need small businesses and jobs.  Free up finances and education the next generation and it will happen.  The current system creates a class of debt burdened people stuck in service level jobs so that they can make their next loan payment and are unable to invest in businesses, buy homes, or spend money on anything.  Consumer spending is continually decreasing because of increased debt.  Unchecked capitalism, as we have now, will not work out to the benefit of America's middle class.  4951

@MGBguy:
Giving them "free" college education means they WILL be paying for it. But they'll be paying for everyone else's college education and they'll be paying the rest of their lives. They'll be paying for some who don't even do anything with their education. Outcomes change when paid for with someone else's money, and not for the better. Also notice Bernie's tax chart only shows marginal rates. He's not showing you a comparison of rates people actually pay (effective rates). The reason is as you can see on his website is that he proposes to close many tax "loopholes". Closing these loopholes will raise people's taxable income, moving them into higher tax brackets, even though they had no change to their gross income. That's no different than a tax increase.  I'm also referring to individual tax increase that comes from the proposed changes to corporate tax. Because as any responsible adult knows, corporations don't foot the bill for taxes. They are merely the entity that passes payments along that are paid by consumers.
One item overlooked in the cycle of stupidity meme above, inflation is also a tax and it hits lower and middle income earners the hardest. Stated another way, you cannot oppose other candidates flat tax proposals on the basis of it affecting low income earners the most without being a hypocrite on new spending proposals that cause the Treasury to print more money, causing inflation. 4951

@MGBguy: Stereotyping with no basis in fact except for delusional socialist trying to impose their will upon the electorate. Socialism, mathematically cannot work.

"Bernie actually has very
specific plans on how to pay for his recommended programs and even
breaks the implementation down step by step.  I've found him to be, by
far, the most prepared and thorough candidate when it comes to his
plans. "LOL out loud.By his numbers, Bernie's massive tax increases won't pay for his programs:  "free" education and health care for all.  But those tax increases are huge:- A 2.2% income premium- A rise in the top tax bracket to 52%- a 6.2% "employee" tax- Increased taxes on capital gains and estates- A fee on securities trades- A carbon tax- An increase in Social Security taxes- An increase in payroll taxes- An increase in tax on individual health care plans- An increase in tax on employee health care plansHis tax increases would raise an additional $1.9 trillion per year, according to his numbers.  But his spending increases top $2.4 trillion per year.  So he's adding at least $500 Billion to the yearly deficit while raising taxes for everyone.He doesn't pay for his programs.  He raises taxes for everyone.  But "he's prepared".  4951
