We are going over there for our 20th ann. in March and wondered if there was a dinner cruise or something romantic we could plan on. Google search failed me. 4951

What Fallon said.Not much to do in Lake Charles. We do a cool bike ride there in May- Tour La Fitte. Luna's is a pretty good local restaurant but other than that  and the gambling- Nada. It's a chemical and O&G town and that's about it. If I were you I'd reroute and go to San Antonio! 4951

There is nothing to do in Lake Charles. That's why they built casinos.Lake Charles is only slightly more romantic than Pasadena, TX. Slightly. 4951

San Antonio. Just did a girls weekend there with some friends recently, and I try to go with my kids as much as I can. So much more than Lake Charles. Restaurants are great, atmosphere is great, Riverwalk is great. So much to do! Clubs, bars, Alamo, SeaWorld...plus New Braunfels is close by and they have the Natural Bridge Caverns. Austin is the same way. Both cities are amazing. 4951

Where did you stay? We are looking for a nice BNB or an upscale hotel with some history as well as amenities. You only have your 20th once. Emoticon 4951

@Nurse3:
This last time we stayed at Marriott, but if you want a great bnb, www.ocaseybnb.com/. Or Inn on the Riverwalk. For hotels, if you want history, the Menger Hotel is cool. It's one of the oldest hotels in Texas. Supposed to be haunted, even. Have stayed there with my kids, and even though the room was pretty small, it turned out to be a great place. 4951

I would consider staying at the Menger Hotel which is right across the street from Alamo. The only drawback is it is haunted along with most of the historical hotels in the area. Ghosts don't deter me as I confronted one in 2006 and I am still here. 4951
