>> Watching the news and weather people try to make this huge is a hoot. Even Gov Christie came on this morning and called the hype irresponsible.
@Stealth83:
I did 34 winters in the northeast. I can remember my mom slowly opening the window pushing the snow off just enough to push one of us out to shovel off the front door. We had to walk to school. No pants for girls.
All this hype when it rains or snows makes me giggle. I love seeing all the fools to nuts not to move.
They just need to sing....
We're having a heatwave.... A tropical heat wave.
I could never go back to living like that on purpose.
@beadweaver: Not a fool or nut.... Love it, right now it is beautiful out. It's a person's preference. You enjoy living in the sub-tropics, fine with me, but it wasn't my preference. Plus I'm so happy to be back by family. It's means more to me than a few months of cold weather and a few snow falls.
@thegoodwife:
Lol I agree. My dh liked to ski Tahoe, I lived on the back side of Elk Mountain ski resort for a decade or more. No I do not ski. Lol I owned property 40 miles south of Buffalo. Waist high snows.
The snow is beautiful and fun. On my terms. Lol when I'm done, I'm done.
I have a very healthy respect for snow. It allowed me to earn money from the time I could hold a broom and shovel.
All of my family is there. I can see them 9 months out of the year if I wanted to.
I will say I miss much from the whole area. Mainly the food, mom and pop stores, the clean beaches, the splendid colors of Autumn and the rich green of summer. I won't deny Christmas with snow is magical.
The slipping, sliding, smashing of body and cars on ice, the shoveling and being bundled in layers so you can't freely move, no thanks.
